EUrology Session on Bladder Cancer report launched
The World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition (WBCPC), together with the European Association of Urology (EAU), has launched the report from the EUrology Session on Bladder Cancer, held on February 19, 2025. This event brought together policymakers, healthcare professionals, researchers and patient advocates to examine key issues affecting the bladder cancer landscape across Europe.
Bladder cancer is among the most common cancers in Europe, yet continues to receive disproportionately low policy and research attention. The report highlights pressing challenges including delayed diagnosis, particularly among women, outdated diagnostic equipment in parts of Europe, and persistent inequalities in access to innovative treatments and care. It also underlines the value of patient-centred approaches and the potential of new developments, such as urinary biomarkers, to transform early detection and follow-up care.
This policy-focused document is intended to inform and inspire action at both EU and national levels, encouraging greater investment, improved access, and more coordinated responses to the needs of bladder cancer patients.
