How you can take part in Bladder Cancer Awareness Month 2026
May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month 2026, and this year marks the final chapter of our three-year global campaign, “Feeling Unsure? Get Checked.”
Across the world, people affected by bladder cancer, healthcare professionals, advocates, organisations, carers, and supporters are coming together to help raise awareness of bladder cancer symptoms and encourage earlier diagnosis.
The good news? Taking part does not have to be complicated. Whether you have one minute or one hour, your contribution can help more people recognise the signs of bladder cancer and seek medical advice sooner.
You can explore the full campaign and resources here.
Got 1 minute? Update your cover photo
A simple change to your social media profile can help spark conversations and increase visibility for bladder cancer awareness.
This May, we invite you to download our custom campaign cover photos and update your Facebook, LinkedIn, or X banner to show your support for the global bladder cancer community.
By using the campaign visuals, you help spread awareness far beyond your own network.
Got 5 minutes? Share awareness content online
Social media remains one of the most powerful ways to reach people quickly and start important conversations.
Throughout May, we are encouraging supporters to share ready-made campaign visuals and messages across their channels to help educate others about bladder cancer symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of early detection.
Some of the key campaign messages this year include:
- Blood in the urine should never be ignored
- Bladder cancer is the 9th most common cancer worldwide, with more than 610,000 new cases diagnosed each year
- When detected early, bladder cancer has around a 90% survival rate
- Symptoms are often misunderstood or overlooked, leading to delays in diagnosis
We have created downloadable visuals, facts, awareness cards, and social media posts to make participation simple and accessible for everyone.

Play Spot the Drop and challenge your network
One of the campaign’s most popular initiatives is back this year: Spot the Drop.
The interactive game encourages people to test their reaction speed while learning more about bladder cancer and the importance of early detection.
With more than 90,000 plays globally to date, the game continues to help raise awareness in a fun and engaging way.
We also encourage participants to share their scores online and challenge friends, colleagues, and family members to take part.
Share your story and support others
Behind every statistic is a personal story.
If you are affected by bladder cancer, or care for someone who is, sharing your experience can help others feel less alone and encourage people to recognise symptoms sooner.
This year, we are also inviting the community to take part in the #UnsureStory initiative by sharing moments of uncertainty, reflections, or experiences linked to bladder cancer and the importance of getting checked.
Patient stories remain one of the most powerful ways to raise awareness, create understanding, and offer hope to others navigating a diagnosis.
Join the #GetChecked Challenge
This May, supporters around the world are also taking part in the #GetChecked Challenge.
The idea is simple:
Complete the sentence “If you’re feeling unsure…” and share your message online through a post, selfie, or short video.
By tagging the campaign and inviting others to continue the chain, participants help amplify awareness globally and encourage more people to take symptoms seriously.
Raise awareness both online and offline
Awareness does not only happen on social media.
Talking openly with friends, family, colleagues, patients, or local communities about bladder cancer symptoms can also make a real difference.
Many people still do not recognise common warning signs such as blood in the urine, and conversations remain one of the strongest tools for helping people seek care earlier.
To support awareness efforts globally, we encourage everyone participating in the campaign to use the hashtags: #BladderCancerMonth26 #GetChecked #UnsureStory #SpotTheDrop
