Advice from #BladderCancerForum – our new video series

The first World Bladder Cancer Patient Forum 2021  brought together the global bladder cancer community under the theme of Changing bladder cancer patient care together, with a discussion and inspiring examples and insights by member organisations working to improve the lives of people affected by bladder cancer around the globe.

At the World Bladder Cancer Patient Forum, we have asked our panelists to share advice for their counterparts around the world. Follow our video series over the coming weeks, as we spotlight a different perspective from healthcare professionals to pharmaceutical industry, starting off with a patient advocate – Lauren Pretorius.

Lauren Pretorius, CEO of Campaigning For Cancer, WBCPC affiliate member organisation in South Africa, shares her perspective and learnings as a patient advocate. She wants to inspire her counterparts around the world by pointing out the fundamental role that patients advocates have in improving bladder cancer patient support and care.

«We need to create any opportunity to engage with patients around the world. There are different kinds of patients, and those patients are nervous, scared and out of their depth. We need to create places and efforts that help them tell their story.

Lauren Pretorius, CEO of Campaigning For Cancer

To reinforce our continued commitment towards fostering our community and improving bladder cancer patient care around the world, the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition has developed a Start-up guide for bladder cancer patient groups. This resource is a helping hand for patient advocates looking to start a bladder cancer patient support or advocacy organisation in their community.

If you have missed the World Bladder Cancer Patient Forum 2021 or would like to revisit the discussions, we invite you to watch the recording on our WBCPC Youtube channel.

We invite you to save the date and join us this year for the 2nd World Bladder Cancer Patient Forum 2022, which will take place as a hybrid event on September 8, in Paris, France.
