From Uncertainty to Action: Our Bladder Cancer Awareness Month 2023 Report

Every year, the month of May is a significant time for our community. It is when we join forces for the Bladder Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM). Explore our latest campaign report full of highlights of global participation and unique initiatives to raise awareness in local communities.

In 2023, we embarked on a revised mission with the “Feeling Unsure? Get Checked” campaign, part of our continued efforts for Bladder Cancer Awareness Month. This initiative was crafted to address the frequent misinterpretation of symptoms, urging individuals to question what they perceive as “normal” and to reassess their symptoms as what they thought they saw may actually be something different, such as a symptom of bladder cancer. The key element of our 2023 campaign was the “Unsure Icon” reflecting the uncertainty around bladder cancer and its timely diagnosis.

During BCAM, we unite as a global bladder cancer community, bringing attention to a disease that is too often overlooked. As it stands, there are over 1.8 million people living with bladder cancer, with more than 600,000 receiving a bladder cancer diagnosis each year. Still, for many, their diagnosis is the first time they hear of “bladder cancer”.

Together, our coalition, friends and partners around the world joined our voices and sparked powerful conversations to raise awareness about bladder cancer. There is so much work to do in raising awareness about bladder cancer in all corners of the world, and together, we can make a huge difference.
