Get involved for World Cancer Day 2025: United by Unique

On the occasion of World Cancer Day on February 4, 2025, the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition (WBCPC) is proud to join forces with the international cancer community to raise awareness. This year, under the theme “United by Unique” we invite you to raise awareness of bladder cancer and advocate for equitable, people-centred care for all.

World Cancer Day 2025 is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), launching a three-year campaign focusing on people-centred care. This approach values the unique needs, perspectives, and experiences of each person while uniting us in a shared goal to reduce the global cancer burden and improve care systems worldwide. This year’s campaign focuses on storytelling, encouraging people to share their experiences and show how personalised care can make a big difference.

How can you make a difference?
  1. Share your story
Your voice matters. Share your personal experience with cancer care as part of the “United by Unique” campaign. Your story could help highlight the need for equitable, people-centred care worldwide. Share your story at World Cancer Day.
  2. Participate in the #UpsideDownChallenge
Take part in this engaging challenge to show your support for people-centred care. Flip a picture upside down on social media, tag friends, and spread awareness using the hashtags #UnitedByUniqueand #WorldCancerDay.
  3. Host or join an event
From community workshops to runs and yoga sessions, there are countless ways to get involved. Add your activity to the Map of impact and inspire others to take action.
  4. Advocate for change
Call on governments and institutions to champion people-centred care by ensuring equitable access to high-quality cancer care for all. Find advocacy resources at World Cancer Day.
  5. Light up landmarks
Join the global effort by illuminating iconic buildings and monuments in orange and blue. Contact the UICC team for more details.
  6. Spread the Word
Download free campaign materials, infographics, and ready-to-use social media graphics at World Cancer Day Resources. Use these tools to engage your network and amplify the message.

To help spread the word and raise awareness, we have created a variety of social media resources for you to use and share with your network, to join the campaign and also help us bring attention to inequities that exist in bladder cancer patient care experiences around the world.

On February 4, let us all come together, regardless of where we are or who we are, to play our part in creating a cancer-free world. Each and every one of us has the ability to make a difference, large or small. Together, we can make real progress in reducing the global impact of cancer.
