World Bladder Cancer Patient Forum 2026: Explore the agenda and join us in Hong Kong

The World Bladder Cancer Patient Forum returns on September 21 and 22, 2026, and for its sixth edition we are bringing the global bladder cancer community together in Hong Kong. Over two days, patient advocates, carers, healthcare professionals, researchers and policymakers will gather to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships and turn shared ideas into action.

Day one is dedicated to advocates and member organisations, with a focused programme built around practical organisational needs. Day two opens the conversation to a wider audience, exploring clinical developments, lived experience and the systemic changes our community is working to drive.

Two days to connect, learn and act

The 2026 Forum agenda reflects what people affected by bladder cancer and those who support them tell us matters most: stronger organisations, more equitable care and a patient voice that shapes decisions at every level. Across both days, participants will explore topics including:

  • Practical applications of AI tools for patient advocacy
  • Growing a small organisation into a national leader
  • Health Technology Assessment for patient advocates
  • What the bladder cancer community can learn from other patient movements
  • The latest developments in bladder cancer research
  • Designing patient-centred clinical trials
  • The role of carers in the healthcare system
  • Shared decision-making between patients and clinicians
  • Addressing the specific gaps women face in bladder cancer care
  • Measuring and communicating the impact of advocacy work

Workshops, panels, keynotes and open café sessions create space for every kind of participant, whether attending for the first time or returning as an experienced advocate ready to go deeper.

A closer look at the programme

On September 21, advocates and member organisations take centre stage. The morning opens with a showcase of successful member projects, followed by a practical keynote on AI tools that advocacy teams can put to use straight away, and a session on how WBCPC supports its members today and what comes next. Parallel afternoon workshops explore growing organisational influence, navigating partnerships and managing conflict within organisations, before the day closes with a collaborative session on measuring and reporting impact.

On September 22, science, lived experience and advocacy meet as equals. A keynote on the latest developments in bladder cancer research sets the tone, followed by a global overview of care standards and a showcase of member grant work, including projects supported through Bladder Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM). Afternoon panels examine the role of carers in the healthcare system, what good shared decision-making looks like in practice, and the specific barriers women face in accessing equitable care. The day closes with a showcase session where patients lead the conversation on what research and advocacy should prioritise next.

Why attend?

Now in its sixth year, the Forum has become an essential meeting point for the global bladder cancer community. Previous editions in Paris, Madrid, Punta Cana and, most recently, Brussels have shown what becomes possible when patients, experts, advocates and policymakers share the same room.
