Newly established CANVES joins WBCPC community
We are thrilled to announce that CANVES (Alianza por el cáncer de vejiga en España) has officially joined the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition (WBCPC). As a new member and as a newly established organisation, CANVES represents the Spanish bladder cancer patient community and brings an important addition to our global network.
Founded in 2024, CANVES emerged in response to the lack of dedicated patient support and information for bladder cancer patients and carers in Spain. The organisation aims to connect patients, offer comprehensive support as it grows, and raise awareness about bladder cancer across the conuntry. Bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer among men in Spain, with over 23,000 new cases diagnosed annually, highlighting the urgent need for more awareness, peer support and patient advocacy.
«At CANVES, our goal is to offer a safe space for bladder cancer patients in Spain, providing them with emotional, practical, and medical support. Joining the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition allows us to strengthen our efforts and be part of a larger community focused on improving care for patients.
Laurent Gemenick, Co-Founder of CANVES
