International Women’s Day – #AccelerateAction

On International Women’s Day, the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition is stepping forward in solidarity to #AccelerateAction for women affected by bladder cancer. This year’s theme emphasises the urgent need for progress, because, at the current rate, achieving gender equality could take over 130 years. We cannot afford to wait.

Why we need to accelerate action

Women with bladder cancer face unique challenges – from delayed diagnoses due to symptoms being mistaken for other conditions to limited access to clinical trials and treatment options. These barriers lead to poorer outcomes and a lack of representation in bladder cancer research and support networks.

Achieving gender equality in healthcare means:
✔ Accelerating awareness so women recognise bladder cancer symptoms earlier
✔ Challenging bias to ensure doctors take women’s concerns seriously
✔ Ensuring access to life-saving treatments, research, and support networks

Making women’s stories visible

For International Women’s Day, we are amplifying the voices of women affected by bladder cancer through our “5 Women, 5 Experiences” campaign. These five powerful stories highlight the diverse journeys, struggles, and triumphs of women living with bladder cancer, reinforcing the need for urgent action in awareness, diagnosis, and care.
