EAU25: Addressing the impact of cancer on mental health
Cancer not only affects the body but also has a profound impact on mental health, leading to challenges such as anxiety, depression, and social isolation. Recognising the importance of mental well-being in cancer care, the European Association of Urology (EAU) Patient Plaza will host a dedicated session at the 40th Annual Congress EAU Congress on Sunday, 23 March 2025, from 13:30 to 14:00, titled The impact of cancer on mental health. The discussion will bring together expert voices and patient perspectives to explore ways to integrate mental health support into cancer care.
Session overview
The session will be moderated by Alex Filicevas, Executive Director of the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition (WBCPC). It will feature insights from patient advocates and healthcare professionals on the emotional and psychological challenges faced by cancer patients and the role of support systems in improving patient well-being.

Why attend this session?
Mental health plays a crucial role in cancer care, yet it is often overlooked. This session at EAU25 aims to highlight the psychological challenges cancer patients face and offer practical approaches to better integrate mental health support into patient care. By fostering open discussions and sharing real-life experiences, the session seeks to empower patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to prioritise mental well-being in cancer treatment.
Join us at the EAU25 Patient Plaza on 23 March for this important discussion on the impact of cancer on mental health and how we can improve support for patients.
