WBCPC at the 45th Annual SIU Congress in Edinburgh
The World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition (WBCPC) attended the 45th Annual Congress of the Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU 2025) in Edinburgh, Scotland, a leading global event that brings together urologists, nurses, researchers, and patient advocates from around the world. This marks the fifth consecutive year that WBCPC has joined the SIU Congress, strengthening our role in international collaboration to improve bladder cancer care.
At our exhibition booth, we shared a wide range of patient-focused materials to help support informed care and patient involvement. These included our bladder cancer factsheets available in six languages, the Start-Up Guide for patient organisations, the White Paper on Bladder Cancer, as well as practical tools, educational resources, and awareness materials for both patients and healthcare professionals.
Throughout the congress, our team met with urologists, clinical researchers, nursing professionals, and young urologists from various regions. These conversations highlighted the importance of integrating patient perspectives into bladder cancer care, improving communication between clinicians and patients, and expanding access to reliable information.
«Our ongoing collaboration with the Société Internationale d’Urologie enables us to bring the voice of people affected by bladder cancer to a global clinician audience. Each year, this partnership enhances our efforts to support the bladder cancer community worldwide.
Alex Filicevas, WBCPC, Executive Director
WBCPC’s partnership with SIU continues to build on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2021. Together, we aim to advance patient-centred care, foster stronger patient-clinician collaboration, and expand awareness and support for everyone affected by bladder cancer globally.
