WBCPC joins call to protect patient voting rights in EMA committees
Earlier this month, the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition co-signed a joint statement led by EURORDIS and the European Patients’ Forum (EPF), calling for meaningful patient involvement and the protection of voting rights in European Medicines Agency (EMA) committees.
This united action comes at a key moment as EU institutions negotiate the final shape of the new pharmaceutical legislation. The statement highlights the need to preserve and strengthen patient representation, ensuring that those directly affected by medicines and health technologies have a real voice in decisions.
The list of co-signatories is now live, and EURORDIS and EPF have launched a campaign toolkit to support the effort. The #KeepPatientsVoting toolkit includes:
-
Social media visuals and captions
-
Email templates for contacting policymakers
-
Key messages for organisations to amplify the campaign
Trilogue negotiations between the European Parliament, Council of the EU, and European Commission will begin on 17 June. These talks will determine the final provisions of the new legislation, including the role patients play in EU regulatory decisions.
We encourage our community to support this important effort by sharing the campaign materials and reaching out to policymakers. Now more than ever, patient voices matter.
