Advancing person-centred care in bladder cancer – new Medscape course now available

We are pleased to announce the release of a new educational course developed in collaboration with Medscape, now available to healthcare professionals globally.

Titled “Personalized Care is Pivotal: Navigating the Evolving Landscape for Advanced Urothelial Carcinoma” this free, CME-accredited course is designed to support oncologists, urologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals in delivering more individualised and person-centred care for people living with advanced bladder cancer.

The programme features a 45-minute interactive learning activity, including:

  • Expert-led video chapters on treatment decision-making, sequencing, and shared decision-making
  • Bladder cancer patient and carer video testimonials highlighting the real-world impact of care decisions
  • Practical guidance through clinical case studies focused on tailoring care to each patient

This Medscape course responds to ongoing challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of advanced urothelial carcinoma, particularly the need for improved communication, timely intervention, and better integration of quality of life considerations into treatment planning.

Key topics include:

  • Selecting appropriate first-line treatment and understanding emerging data
  • Optimising treatment sequencing across the disease continuum
  • Balancing efficacy, side effects, and patient preferences
  • Implementing shared decision-making in daily practice

Developed through a strategic collaboration between the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition and Medscape Global Oncology, and supported by an independent educational grant from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, this initiative reinforces the importance of embedding the patient voice in clinical education.
