WBCPC se incorpora a la consulta informal de la OMS sobre personas que viven con enfermedades no transmisibles

The World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition was invited to join the World Health Organization’s Informal consultation on people living with non-communicable diseases (PLWNCDs). The three-day meeting brought together WHO experts and over 100 participants from civil society organisations, patient groups and people living with NCDs.

The goal of the informal consultation was to listen to the community and explore ways to create meaningful engagement opportunities for PLWNCDs within the workstreams of the WHO.

PLWNCDs is a broad term that encompasses a wide range of diseases, experiences and perspectives. The WHO GCM/NCD Secretariat aims to coordinate a collaborative exercise with relevant WHO departments, UN agencies and GCM/NCD Participants to create a medium-long term workstream to creating meaningful engagement of PLWNCDs.

The objectives of the WHO Informal Consultation on PLWNCDs were to explore:

  • Synergies and foster collaboration across global health activities and workstreams that can

    support meaningful engagement of PLWNCDs.

  • Successful models of engagement of PLWNCDs and areas of enhanced engagement both in

    global, regional and national contexts.

  • Opportunities of operationalising meaningful engagement with PLWNCDs within WHO.

This WHO consultation is the first focusing on meaningful engagement of PLWNCDs and, will be complemented with additional global and regional consultations and activities across 2021 and 2022. The World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition will continue to engage with the WHO within the scope of this and other projects with an objective to improve the lives of people affected by bladder cancer across the world.
