Dr Lydia Makaroff is the President of the World Bladder Cancer Patient Coalition and Chief Executive of Fight Bladder Cancer in the UK. Prior to her current roles, she was the Executive Director of Europe’s largest federation of cancer patient organisations. Lydia holds a PhD in immunology from the Australian National University, a Masters’ degree in Public Health from the University of Queensland, and has over ten years’ international work experience in non-communicable disease research and policy. She has worked across many different sectors: in academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and the non-profit sector. She has previously worked as a senior post-doctoral fellow at the University of Washington in Seattle; and for the International Diabetes Federation as their Epidemiology and Public Health Manager in Brussels.
