This year we held the meeting virtually and bringing our event to an even wider global audience. The theme for the WBCPC 2020 Annual Meeting was “Ensuring bladder cancer is on the global health policy agenda.”
Highlights of the WBCPC 2020 Annual Meeting
The 2020 bladder cancer Annual Meeting explores the challenges of including the patient voice in research design, building communities across clinical, patient and industry groups, and encouraging the creation of patient organisations in every country.
Over the coming week, we will publish two-article series which summarises the experiences shared at the meeting. The first article is published on September 30, with the second article following on October 6, 2020.
- Toward a ‘network of networks’ serving bladder cancer patient organisations – presents examples and approaches by panelists that guide countries to create strong bladder cancer patient organisations. It looks at raising awareness, engaging through advocacy and building community.
- Toward optimal treatment – how advocacy and fact-finding improve research outcomes – presents the experience of two bladder cancer advocates in the UK and US, showing what is needed to better link patient needs to the research and innovation pathway, and how they are organising.
